Tell us little about yourself.
I’m Kammi Kuskowski and a newly stay at home mama due to recently being let go from a job. I’m so excited for this new season of life and see it as a blessing in disguise being able to spend more time with my babe now. I’ve always loved using social media as a creative outlet and side hustle. I have a 15 month old named Siggy Moon who is on the go non stop keeping me very busy these days!
How did you get inspired for your nursery design?
I wanted to stick with the same vibe we have throughout our house so that helped make it easier in the design process. We have that ‘vintage beach shack’ feel so I stayed with neutral airy tones and light wood accent furniture. Of course I added pops of muted tones using yellows and oranges to bring some color into it as well.
What are your most-loved items in your nursery?
Our vintage MCM nursery lounge chair that my Nana helped us purchase before she passed away. Sadly, she never got to meet Siggy so it’s so special to have something that reminds us of her in the nursery.
If you had to pack a hospital bag again, what top three items would you take?
Just the basic essentials. Everyone made lists and lists of things you need to bring and it was so overwhelming. If I could redo it again I would simplify my hospital bag. The three items I would pack would be a matching soft/stretchy set for mama to wear, some slippers, and a cozy blanket.
What are your favorite mama and babe personal care products? Bath, skincare, haircare, sun care, makeup, grooming…
All things Pipette! We love the shampoo + wash and body lotion in the ‘vanilla and ylang ylang’ scent. We also use the fragrance free baby balm, diaper cream and their SPF in the summertime. Hands down the best products that I have repurchased time and time again.
Where do you shop for babes? (Skincare, healing, clothing, toys, food, vitamins…)
For clothing Roux is always my number one go-to. Love the color choices and the clothes are so soft and the quality is unbeatable! Siggy has been wearing Roux since she was born. She’s a big fan of the blankets as well, she can’t sleep without one. All other items like toys/skincare I usually order from online. Makes life easier!
What books and music are on rotation in your house?
Siggy loves all the pop up peekaboo books by Camilla Reid. They keep her entertained and she has so much fun now that she can do the pop ups herself now.
What is a no-fail activity that your babe love?
Anything outdoors. Like stroller walks or just letting her play outside. She loves to be able to explore with little limitations or restrictions.
What is your favorite part of the day with your babe?
Definitely bed time. We usually do bath time or if she’s had one earlier in the day, we will just play for a little to get her ‘bed time zoomies’ out (as we call them). Then we usually get to cuddle for a bit to wind down. There is nothing better than being able to still cuddle and watch her fall asleep.
What is a recent thing your babe did or said that made you laugh?
She’s learning to stick her tongue out now and was recently mad about having her diaper changed. So when she got up, she turned around and stuck her tongue out at me. You can’t help but just laugh at moments like that.
The usual questions about how to find work/parenting/life balance feel overwhelming. What are some small ways that you find balance?
I still struggle with this one. I think just embracing every moment and taking time when you need it. To be a good mom you also need to take care of yourself and recharge. And that’s totally okay!! I’ve been trying to remind myself of that more especially when I have mom guilt.
Your babe magically disappears for the day. Describe your ideal Me Time day.
A low key kind of day — lounging on the couch. Probably catching up on tv shows that I can’t watch during the day while running after Siggy. If I’m not doing that, I would probably be hanging out over at my sisters house for some girl time with her and my niece.
