Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Kate. I live in Los Angeles with my husband and two boys, Felix + Sebastian and I’m a fashion stylist.
What are your most-loved items in your nursery?
Our vintage rocking chair, a flower drawing that my husbands great grandfather drew and all of our books that have been gifted, passed down or belonged to me or David as a child.
If you had to pack a hospital bag again, what top three items would you take?
A speaker, a cozy robe and a nursing pillow.
What are your favorite mama and babe personal care products? (Bath, skincare, haircare, sun care, makeup, grooming…)
For the kids I love Babo Organics shampoo, nothing smells better! We use Ever Eden organic lotions and Thinkbaby or Mini Bloom sunscreen.
For myself I love Osea, iSun, Circumference and Moon Juice products. And Sachajuan for my hair. I don’t wear much makeup but most of my products are Ilia and Kosas.
Where do you shop for babes? (Skincare, healing, clothing, toys, food, vitamins…)
Roux! I also love Bobo Choses, Bonton, The Animals Observatory and Caramel and Etsy for vintage. We love New Balances, Salt Water Sandals, Crocs, Birkenstocks and Reeboks for shoes. I buy most of their toys at Merci Milo or a small shop called Acorn in Santa Monica.
What books and music are on rotation in your house?
We love The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Maggie Rogers, Beirut, Taylor Swift, Encanto…it’s a real mix!
As for books, our current favorites are Backyard Fairies, Alba + The Ocean Cleanup, Sharing a Shell, Little Blue Truck, Where The Wild Things Are, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and, of course, Goodnight Moon.
What is a no-fail activity that your babes love?
Felix loves doing puzzles and playing memory and Seb loves destroying any puzzle or game we’re playing. Ha! And everyone loves a dance party.
Do you have a go-to recipe that your babes devour?
Lentil pasta with spinach hemp pesto.
What is your favorite part of the day with your babes?
I love snuggling at night and reading books together.
What is a recent thing your babes did or said that made you laugh?
This morning Seb was crying in the car and Felix yelled, “Mama, Sebby’s expiring! We gotta get home!” Laughed out loud at that one.
The usual questions about how to find work/parenting/life balance feel overwhelming. What are some small ways that you find balance?
Felix goes to preschool and we are fortunate enough to have an amazing nanny that feels like part of our family, which allows some space to work part time and do little things that fill my cup like take pilates a few days a week and go to lunches with friends. But I’m still exhausted most of the time and always trying to figure out how to get everything done while spending as much time with my kids as I can.
